MoreAn MD, or Doctor of Medicine, is a postgraduate degree that is typically obtained after completing four years of medical school. Medical school curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, pathology, and clinical medicine. After completing the classroom portion of their education, medical students then undergo extensive clinical training in hospitals and other medical settings to gain hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating patients. Once a student has successfully completed all of the required coursework and clinical training, they are awarded the MD degree and are eligible to apply for licensure to practice medicine in their country. In most countries, obtaining an MD is a prerequisite to becoming a licensed physician and practicing medicine independently. However, there are some countries where other medical degrees, such as the DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) or the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), are also recognized for medical licensure.
